A Short History of Air Conditioning

This video is about the history of air conditioning. Willis Carrier is regarded as the "father" of air conditioning.  Mr. Carrier figured out how to help a then popular magazine (circa 1902) get it's July issue out without the colors running due to humidity. After this achievement, Mr. Carrier started an air conditioning company. Control humidity by controlling temperature was Mr. Carrier's big idea.

In the 1920s movie houses began promoting the benefits of air conditioning. By the 1950, window-based air conditioners were becoming common in homes. Before watching this video I had not realized the degree to which air conditioning changed society. The impact has been profound.
